FIRST BAHFH HARVEY REPAIR COMPLETED

November 22nd, 2017

BAHFH has started to do some Hurricane Harvey home repairs. We just finished our first repair It was for Michael Augustus of Le Marque. Harvey damaged his entire roof and the roof over his garage. BAHFH repaired all of it. Mr. Augustus is a retired teacher who requires a caretaker. The day he found out that he has been selected to have his repair work done is when you begin to see a teacher teaching others humility and gratitude. Mr. Augustus’ eyes watered up as he expressed his gratitude to God and to Habitat. Once the roof was replaced, Mr. Augustus’ eyes watered once again as he expressed his gratitude to Habitat and thanks Habitat’s donors for making his roof replacement possible. Mr. Augustus simply stated…”I could not have done this without Habitat’s help.” Please see a few pictures below….

BAY AREA HABITAT ACCEPTING CRITICAL HOME REPAIR APPLICATIONS

September 29th, 2017

Bay Area Habitat for Humanity (BAHFH) realized the need even prior to Hurricane Harvey, for assisting low income homeowners in addressing critical home repairs. We have secured some limited funding and want to reach out to the communities we serve and do what we can to help with this problem. We define critical home repairs as issues that are vital and necessary to fix to ensure the home occupants safety and/or health. This list can include many issues but BAHFH will start with the following (on a case by case basis); exterior doors, siding, roofing, HVAC, windows, and hot water heaters. We will not be doing repairs inside beltway 8 or in another affiliate’s service area. Please click on here critical home repairs for the application and additional information.
