Non-Construction Committees in Bay Area Habitat for Humanity - Houston, Inc.

Family Selection Committee

The family selection committee coordinates the process of selecting Habitat's homeowner families. This involves soliciting applications, following up information from the applications and interviewing the families, and finally, making recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding acceptance of a partner family.

Family support members serve as sponsors for families that are already selected and awaiting the construction of their homes, as well as current homeowner families. This includes helping families with budgets, helping them with customizations of their homes (like colors), and serving as the interface between the families and Habitat. The family support committee also plans and executes the dedication ceremonies for the homes.

Site Selection Committee

Church Relations Committee

The church relations committee coordinates Habitat's relations with area churches. This involves speaking to congregations on request, developing blitz build relationships with churches, keeping churches informed of Habitat activities, and fundraising in the churches.

Corporate Relations Committee

The corporate relations committee solicits and maintains contact with corporations, foundations,.and service organizations for the purpose of recruiting volunteers and fundraising.
