What is the Habitat for Humanity Women Build all about?

Habitat for Humanity International officially formed Women Build in 1998 to promote the involvement of women in the construction of Habitat for Humanity homes.  In the beginning, about seven Habitat for Humanity homes were built by women each year.  Since that time, thousands of homes have been built by women crews around the world.  In 2009 Bay Area Habitat built our first home funded entirely by women.  The 2010 Women Build Home will be dedicated July 31st 2010! Thank you to all the Women Build Teams that came out to construct this special home with Tiffany and her children!

- Women are a powerful social and economic force with the means to both fund and construct homes where children can flourish.
- Women-built projects provide an opportunity for women to learn new skills, participate in team-building activities and make a lasting difference for children and families.
- A total of more than 450 Women Build homes have been built worldwide.
- These homes seek to address the growing problem of children living in poverty in the U.S.
