Women Build

The Gilmore Family - The family selected to be the recipient of the 2010 Women Build Home.

The 2010 Women Build 5K Walk was a huge success!! Thank you to all that came out and supported Bay Area Habitat for Humanity and the Women Builders! We have selected a family for this special home The Gilmore Family.
The foundation will be poured the second week of March! Lowes of League City will be coming out to raise the walls March 20th!

Habitat for Humanity International officially formed Women Build in 1998 to promote the involvement of women in the construction of Habitat for Humanity homes.  In the beginning, about seven Habitat for Humanity homes were built by women each year.  Since that time, thousands of homes have been built by women crews around the world.  In 2009 Bay Area Habitat built our first home funded entirely by women.  Plans for the Spring 2010 Women Build Home are currently underway!

- Women are a powerful social and economic force with the means to both fund and construct homes where children can flourish.
- Women-built projects provide an opportunity for women to learn new skills, participate in team-building activities and make a lasting difference for children and families.
- A total of more than 450 Women Build homes have been built worldwide.
- These homes seek to address the growing problem of children living in poverty in the U.S.
