OUR MISSION
Seeking to put God's love into action, we bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
We are committed to empowering local families in need of decent, affordable housing to achieve homeownership and the opportunity to build generational wealth. We believe strong and stable homes build strong and stable communities.
We cannot do it alone.
Building Homes
We are the only non-profit home builder in the Galveston, Southeast Harris and Northern Brazoria County area partnering with families to build quality, safe, affordable, and energy efficient homes with no-interest mortgages.
We are an independent, locally-run nonprofit that handles every step from fundraising and building site selection to home construction and family support within our local service area.
Building Communities
We collaborate with local municipalities, other non-profits and social service agencies, and local business owners to serve our neighbors in need and revitalize the Texas Gulf Coast one community at a time.
Our homeowners contribute to economic development as they support local businesses and continue to contribute to the community as normal homeowners, paying city, county and school taxes like everyone else.
Building Hope
Our program focuses on helping the families we serve become strong, stable, confident, and constructive members of the community.
Every homeowner completes financial literacy and homeownership courses before proudly purchasing the home they helped build.
Children of homeowners are 116% more likely to graduate from college compared with children in families who do not own their homes.

All are Welcome.
BAHFH has an open-door policy: All who believe that everyone needs a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to help with the work, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views or any of the other distinctions that too often divide people. In short, Habitat welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds and also serves people in need of decent housing regardless of race or religion.
As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations do not proselytize. This means that habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith, or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.
About Habitat for Humanity
Bay Area Habitat for Humanity Houston (BAHFH) is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope.
Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a safe, decent place to live, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.
Habitat for Humanity International
Founded in Americus, Georgia, USA, in 1976, Habitat for Humanity today operates around the globe and has helped build, renovate and repair more than 600,000 decent, affordable houses sheltering more than 3 million people worldwide.
This past year, Bay Area Habitat for Humanity supported the International Disasters Fund for Habitat organizations abroad to prepare for and respond to disasters and the subsequent shelter needs as they occur.
