Bay Area Habitat for Humanity to Open Homeowner Applications on January 5, 2026

HOUSTON, TX (January 2026) – Bay Area Habitat for Humanity Houston is excited to announce that homeowner applications for an upcoming Habitat home in Texas City will officially open on January 5, 2026. Local individuals and families seeking a path to safe, stable, and affordable homeownership are encouraged to apply.

This opportunity is part of Bay Area Habitat’s ongoing commitment to partnering with hardworking families who are ready to invest in their futures through affordable homeownership. Selected applicants will work side-by-side with volunteers, staff, and community partners to help build their own homes and acquire a total of 200 hours of “sweat equity” before purchasing their home with a zero-interest, no-profit mortgage.

Application Details:

  • Applications will be available to download beginning January 5, 2026 at bahfh.org/apply.
  • Applications will close on January 19, 2026. Only completed applications with all required documents will be considered.
  • Interested applicants are encouraged to begin gathering required documents now to ensure a smooth submission process.
  • Applicants can submit required documents and completed applications by:

    • In-person drop-off at 1115 Gemini St, Suite 174, Houston, TX 77058 between 10am – 4pm on Monday – Friday.
